School Closure 24th - 25th Remote Learning Tasks

Due to the classroom closing because of the heat, here is some optional learning the children can complete at home. It is not compulsory, but it would be hugely beneficial in keeping their skills sharp—especially in maths, reading, and writing. Please choose the activities that work best for your child and your day.

Multiplication Practice

  • Times Tables Grid — Practise 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 8s and 10s.

  • Quick Fire Multiplication — Try answering these within 5 seconds each:

    • 4 × 5

    • 8 × 3

    • 10 × 4

    • 3 × 8

    • 5 × 6

    • 2 × 9

 Arithmetic Questions

  • Arithmetic Set A

    • 45 + 27 =

    • 84 − 39 =

    • 6 × 4 =

    • 72 ÷ 8 =

    • 305 + 40 =

    • 120 − 80 =

    • 64 x 3 =

    • 72 x 5 = 

  • Arithmetic Set B

    • A packet has 24 biscuits. If 8 are eaten, how many are left?

    • A pencil costs 35p. How much do 2 pencils cost?

    • Tom has 90 stickers. He gives 30 to his friend. How many does he have now?

Writing Task — Time Adverbs

Ask children to write 5–8 sentences about their morning, a favourite day out, or a made‑up adventure. They must include time adverbs such as:

  • First

  • Next

  • Then

  • Afterwards

  • Finally

Encourage them to aim for one quiz and 10–15 minutes of reading.

🧠 Optional Challenge Tasks

  • Write your own word problem using multiplication or division.

  • Create a comic strip using time adverbs.
