Peacock Class

06/10/2026 - PSHE – Being Me in My World

This term in PSHE, Year 3 have been exploring ‘Being Me in My World’. Throughout the unit, the children have been developing their understanding of themselves, their emotions, their responsibilities and how their actions can affect the people around them. We have talked about what makes us unique and important, how to make positive choices, and what we can do to help everyone feel safe, valued and included in our classroom.

A particular focus has been children thinking carefully about how it might feel to be a new child joining a class and consider the different emotions they might experience, such as feeling nervous, worried, excited or lonely. Working together, the children created mind maps filled with ideas about how a new student might feel and what could help them to settle in.

The children then put their ideas into action by creating welcome cards for a new student. Their cards included kind, reassuring messages designed to help a new child feel welcomed, safe and part of the class. This activity encouraged the children to put themselves in someone else’s shoes and recognise how small acts of kindness can make a big difference. We are very proud of the thoughtful and caring ideas they shared, particularly their understanding of how they can help others to feel that they belong.
