Online Safety
The internet is essential in 21st century life for education, business and social interaction. As children move up through the school their access to various types of technology increases and it stands to reason that their exploration and curiosity increases too. The positives of the digital world overwhelmingly outweigh the negatives but children, schools and parents all need to be aware of various online risks.
We at West Monkton follow the SMART Rules:
If you ever require support or have any questions regarding your child's internet use, then please contact me through the school office on 01823 412582.
Mrs Shaw, E-Safety Lead.

Updates
Horror-Based Games
In recent months, we have seen a rise in children at school and nursery talking about horror-based online games. These include:
- Poppy Playtime (characters Huggy Wuggy and Kissy Missy)
- Five Nights at Freddy’s
- Baldi’s Basics in Education and Learning.
Although they may originally seem child-friendly from their cartoon appearance, these games are not appropriate for primary aged children. Please be aware that children may not be playing these games, but watching clips on YouTube. If you would like further information on these games or how to set parental controls, please visit internetmatters.org or speak to Mrs Shaw.
